OUR HISTORY

Amante was formed in 1999 when three buddies went on a wine buying boondoggle to Italy. While roaming Northern Italy the three friends found themselves in the local cafes consuming copious amounts of espresso (after nights of excessive wine drinking) and wondering why on earth coffee tasted so differently in the United States. Maybe it was the setting, maybe it was the wine, or maybe it was just the coffee, but they decided they had to have this coffee when they returned home.

After a little digging the threesome found Federico Ghigo, a third generation coffee roaster who was interested in getting his product into the United States. Soon after, the gentlemen were importing Federico’s coffee and Amante was born.

In 2005 Amante made its’ first move away from wholesale and opened Amante Coffee cafés in Colorado. Not moving too far away from its roots, the cafes themselves are very Italian in feel and style.

In 2009 Amante started a new chapter with an ownership change. The commitment to our goals remains the same and our desire to serve our customers has never been greater. We have a renewed energy and look forward to an exciting future.
